What is a mini split heat pump?
A heat pump moves heat instead of making it. In summer it pulls heat out of the room and releases it outdoors; in winter it reverses and pulls heat from the outdoor air into the room. An inverter compressor speeds up and slows down to match the load, so it runs steadily instead of cycling on and off.
Window air conditioners on our site are cooling-only and are not heat pumps — they are on the window AC category.

Every system here has Auto, Cool, Heat, Dry and Fan modes. Heating capacity and HSPF2 (the seasonal heating efficiency rating) are published on each product page where the spec sheet gives them: the 9,000 BTU, both 12,000 BTU systems, the 23,000 BTU and the DUET all publish HSPF2.
Heating output falls as the outdoor temperature drops, and in freezing weather the outdoor unit pauses briefly to defrost. The FAQ explains defrost mode.
