This Classic America 23,000 BTU ductless mini split heat pump (model MSCR32-23CHSA2) is built for open living areas, additions and similar spaces of up to 1,200 sq ft under typical conditions. It runs on 208/230V~/60Hz/1P, so plan a dedicated circuit with a licensed electrician before you buy.
One system handles the whole year: 23,000 BTU cooling and 22,400 BTU heating, rated 17 SEER2, 9.5 EER2 and 9.5 HSPF2 (Region IV). The inverter compressor keeps heating in the cold, with 13,500 BTU at 17°F and 12,000 BTU at 5°F, and it uses R32 refrigerant. Indoor sound runs 37–50 dB and outdoor about 56 dB. Modes: Auto, Cool, Heat, Dry and Fan.
The indoor and outdoor units ship free in one box. Pipe connections are Gas 1/2" and Liquid 1/4", precharged for 25 ft with runs up to 65 ft. Is a 23,000 BTU mini split a 2 ton mini split?
Close to it. One ton is 12,000 BTU per hour, so 23,000 BTU ≈ 1.9 tons, which is sold as the 2 ton class. This Classic America unit (MSCR32-23CHSA2) delivers 23,000 BTU cooling and 22,400 BTU heating. Use the size finder or call 1-800-349-4360 Ext. 204 to confirm room fit.
How many square feet will this system cover?
It is rated for up to 1,200 sq ft under typical conditions. High ceilings, poor insulation, heavy sun or open floor plans can need a different size. Compare models on the compare tool or buying guide.
What voltage does this mini split need?
It is a 208/230V~/60Hz/1P unit, not 115V. The spec sheet lists a 17 A minimum circuit ampacity and a 25 A maximum fuse; have a licensed electrician confirm a dedicated circuit before install. Smaller Classic America models (9k / 12k) use 115V if that matches your panel: see the 110V mini split hub.
How well does it heat in cold weather?
It is a mini split heat pump rated 22,400 BTU heating at 47°F, 13,500 BTU at 17°F and 12,000 BTU at 5°F, with 9.5 HSPF2 (Region IV) and 8.5 HSPF2 (Region V). It heats down to an outdoor temperature of 5°F.
Is it ENERGY STAR certified?
